The race will forever be remembered for the epic duel between Varzi and Nuvolari which covered ninety-nine of the one hundred laps. Both drivers over-revved their engines up the hill to the Casino, but sadly Nuvolari's Alfa Romeo Monza expired, leaving Varzi the victor.
