JARROTTS are pleased to announce a Special Edition photograph specifically prepared to coincide with the title sponsor for Race Retro, International Historic Motorsport Show 2010, Alfa Romeo, together with one of its star drivers Bruno Giacomelli.
Taken at the 1980 Austrian Grand Prix, it depicts Bruno in the beautifully shaped, Marlboro liveried Alfa Romeo 179, powered by a howling 3.0 litre V12. Whilst it sounded wonderful and looked gorgeous, the one car entry performed particularly poorly, forcing team boss Carlo Chiti to hire ex-World Champion Mario Andretti alongside Giacomelli, for the 1981 season.
The likeable Italian won the prestigious Monaco F3 race in 1976 and went on to dominate and ultimately won the European F2 championship in 1978. The year before, he made his Grand Prix debut for McLaren at Monza, competing in five further races in 1978. His McLaren M26 was affectionately named 'Jack O'Malley'. He went on to compete in 82 Grand Prix weekends, starting 69 races, with a solitary podium to his name.
This Cibachrome photograph will be signed by Bruno and will be available loose, dry mounted and inscribed, or as a finished piece complete with a solid wood, hand stained frame. For further information please contact JARROTTS on the numbers listed below, or visit Stand J36 in Hall 1 at the show.
